Doosan Enerbility said Monday it has signed a contract with DEI and DFHM, affiliates of China's Dongfang Electric Group, to supply oversized steam generator forgings for units 5 and 6 of the Laiyang nuclear power plant in Shandong Province, China.
Under the agreement, Doosan Enerbility will deliver a total of eight oversized forgings for the two units — four channel heads and four tube sheets — on a phased schedule through 2029.
The forgings measure 5 meters in diameter and weigh up to 130 tons each, making them critical components for nuclear steam generators. Doosan Enerbility manufactures such key nuclear equipment using a 17,000-ton press — among the world's largest — and proprietary oversized forging technology, supplying customers across the global nuclear market.
Laiyang units 5 and 6 will use the CAP1400 reactor design, China's next-generation 1,400 MW nuclear power plant model. The latest contract follows one Doosan Enerbility secured last year for steam generator forgings for Laiyang units 3 and 4, marking consecutive wins that reinforce the company's technological and quality credentials in the Chinese nuclear market. The company's earlier work supplying steam generator forgings for the Haiyang AP1000 nuclear power plant also bolstered its reputation for quality and on-time delivery.
