Jongno-gu tops administrative service rankings for 8th consecutive year

Jongno-gu announced Monday that it has topped the local government administrative service category of the Korean Standard-Service Quality Index (KS-SQI) for the eighth consecutive year.

The district scored 73.6 points in this year's evaluation, ranking first among Seoul's autonomous districts and surpassing the Seoul Metropolitan Government average of 72.1 points by 1.5 points. Jongno-gu outscored other districts in eight of the 13 evaluation categories, including courtesy, proactiveness and appropriateness, earning broad recognition for its overall service quality.

The district has pursued policies designed to make a tangible difference in residents' daily lives across all areas of governance. One notable initiative is the Bukchon Special Management Zone, which offers a model for balancing tourism with residents' right to stable living conditions.

Jongno-gu also stepped up support for the local economy. To help small business owners and the self-employed struggling amid the economic slowdown, the district deferred principal repayment on small and medium-sized enterprise development fund loans by up to one year, providing a lifeline for the local economy.

In the culture and welfare sectors, the district opened major roads along Daehangno to the public through a car-free street event, injecting new energy into the area's cultural scene and commercial district.

Meanwhile, starting this year Jongno-gu has extended its civil affairs office hours every Wednesday until 7 p.m., offering greater convenience to residents who cannot visit during daytime hours due to work or study commitments.

"We will continue to listen more closely to residents' voices and pay careful attention to the inconveniences they face in their daily lives," District Mayor Yu Chan-jong said.
