Seocho-gu to hold high school admissions forum ahead of sweeping exam reforms

Seoul's Seocho-gu announced Monday it will hold the "2027 High School Admissions Success Strategy Forum" on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Seocho Culture and Arts Center Art Hall, targeting 600 students and parents preparing for high school enrollment.

The district said the forum was organized to provide a clear high school roadmap for local students and parents who have grown anxious ahead of sweeping changes to the college admissions system, including the full rollout of the high school credit system, a shift to a five-tier internal grading system, and the introduction of an integrated college entrance exam with no elective subject options.

The keynote speaker will be Yoon Yeo-jeong, a director at Yoon & Go Admissions Consulting and lead consultant of the YouTube channel "Univclass," which has 500,000 subscribers. She is widely regarded as a top admissions expert in the Daechi-dong tutoring district.

Yoon is scheduled to cover an analysis of the admissions landscape following the 2028 college entrance reform, criteria for choosing a high school best suited to a student's strengths under the credit system and five-tier grading regime, and key strategies for preparing for the integrated college entrance exam and the revised national curriculum.

Registration opens Aug. 20 and runs through Sept. 3 on a first-come, first-served basis through the Seocho-gu Education Support Center website. Further inquiries can be directed to the Bangbae Education Support Center, which is organizing the event.

Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said he hopes students and parents weighing high school options amid the credit system and the revamped college admissions framework will use the forum to establish clear criteria and find the best strategy for their path forward.
