Gyeongsan city launches 2026 short-form video contest

Gyeongsan city in North Gyeongsang Province announced Sunday that it will hold the "2026 Gyeongsan City Short-Form Video Contest" to uncover the city's diverse appeal through the fresh perspectives of young creators and to boost public interest and engagement with the region.

Submissions will be accepted from Sept. 7 through Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.

The contest is open to individuals aged 19 to 39 nationwide who have an interest in Gyeongsan. Participants may enter alone or in teams of up to four members, with each person or team limited to one submission.

Videos may take any format — vlog, parody, music video, advertisement, drama series or otherwise — but must be shot in vertical orientation (9:16 aspect ratio), run between 30 and 59 seconds, and meet a resolution of 1,080 by 1,920 pixels. Accepted file formats are AVI or MP4.

All entries must be original works. Generative AI tools may be used only in a supporting capacity, such as for automatic subtitles, voice noise reduction, background removal or color correction.

A total of 13 winners will be selected, with prize money totaling 8 million won ($5,650). The grand prize winner receives 2 million won, the top prize winner 1.5 million won, two excellence prize winners 1 million won each, four encouragement prize winners 500,000 won each, and five honorable mentions 100,000 won each.

Results will be announced in November through Gyeongsan city's official social media channels, with individual notifications sent to winners.

"I hope this contest becomes an opportunity to rediscover Gyeongsan's policies and hidden charms through the vibrant ideas and sensibilities of young people," Gyeongsan Mayor Jo Hyeon-il said. "I encourage young people from across the country to participate actively with fresh content that reflects their own perspectives and stories."
