Gunwi-gun holds Golden Ball apple direct-sale events at E-mart stores nationwide

Gunwi-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held a "Gunwi Golden Ball Apple Direct-from-Farm Sale" at the E-mart Manchon store in Daegu on Friday.

Gunwi-gun, the Daekyeong Apple Horticulture Agricultural Cooperative and E-mart organized the event jointly to introduce consumers to the Golden Ball, a new summer apple variety, and to promote its taste and quality.

The direct-sale promotion ran Aug. 14 (Friday) and Aug. 15 (Saturday) across five E-mart stores in Daegu, and will expand to 18 E-mart locations nationwide — including stores in the greater Seoul area, Busan, Jeonju, Sejong and Seogwipo — from Friday, Aug. 21 through Saturday, Aug. 22.

On the opening day at the Manchon store, organizers gave away 500 bags of Golden Ball apples in a giveaway that drew strong interest from shoppers.

Gunwi-gun Mayor Kim Jin-yeol attended along with county assembly members, agricultural cooperative officials and apple growers, who spoke directly with consumers about the characteristics and quality of the Gunwi Golden Ball.

"Through this event, I hope more consumers get to taste the Gunwi Golden Ball, and we will actively work to nurture it into an apple loved across the country," Kim said.
