Dalseong-gun in Daegu held an event ahead of the 81st Liberation Day on Friday, distributing Taegeukgi national flags and taegeuk-patterned rice cakes to visitors at the county office. The Hwawon district federation of public child care centers organized the event, with 100 children and staff from 10 centers taking part. Under the slogan "Carry the Light — The Courage of 1945, We Carry It Forward," the children handed out mini Taegeukgi flags and rice cakes to convey the meaning of liberation. At a "Love for the Nation" flash mob, they waved hand-held flags and chanted "Long live Korean independence," drawing an enthusiastic response. Dalseong-gun County Chief Choi Jae-hun said the county would "actively support efforts to pass the spirit of love for the nation on to future generations."
