Cheongsong-gun council opens 290th regular session

The Cheongsong-gun Council in North Gyeongsang Province opened its first plenary session Tuesday, kicking off the 290th regular session.

The session runs through Aug. 28 — a total of 11 days — during which the council is set to deliberate and vote on 15 agenda items, including ordinance bills, consent motions and budget proposals.

Particularly notable on the agenda is the first supplementary budget bill for 2026, along with a range of ordinance and consent proposals closely tied to residents' daily lives. The council plans to scrutinize each item carefully to ensure that budgets and policies translate into tangible results at the local level.

Starting Wednesday, council members will visit towns and townships across the county to review the progress of key issues and ongoing projects and to hear directly from residents about their concerns and requests.

Also during the session, lawmaker Park Shin-young is scheduled to deliver a five-minute open address on the theme of "improving mobility for older residents," offering policy recommendations aimed at securing mobility rights for the elderly and creating a safer, more convenient local transportation environment.

Council Speaker Shim Sang-hyu said in his opening remarks that the session is "an important sitting for carefully reviewing the county administration as a whole and thinking together about the direction of Cheongsong-gun's development." He added that the council would "conduct legislative activities that listen closely to voices from the community and offer practical alternatives from the perspective of residents."
