Haenam-gun in South Jeolla Province will launch a slow-paced bicycle culture tour — titled "Sayuro Haenam Bicycle Travel" — inviting participants to explore the area's humanistic heritage and natural scenery by bike.
The citizen-participation day-trip program lets riders move faster than walking but slower than driving, weaving safely through Haenam's landscapes and stories. It aims to be a "slow local tour" that steers away from speed and competition in favor of a deeper encounter with the region's history and literature.
The tour visits Haenam's key humanistic landmarks with professional guides and docents, and will run five times in total from Sept. 4 through Oct. 3.
Stops include the Gosan Yun Seon-do Museum and the Ttangkkeut Sunrye Literature Hall in Yeondong-ri, Haenam-eup, where docents will lead participants through the life and works of nature poet Yun Seon-do and the history and culture of Nokudang.
Before and after each ride, participants will gather at Haenam's Achim — a local specialty roastery café — to share beverages and "Sayuro Bicycle Bread," a pastry developed exclusively for the event, giving riders time to connect with one another.
Participation is entirely free. Bicycles, helmets and other safety equipment, docent-led tours, activity programs, beverages and desserts are all provided at no cost.
In lieu of a participation fee, attendees are asked to post a travel review of Haenam on their personal Instagram account or another online platform after the tour — a citizen-driven promotional arrangement.
Sessions are held on Friday afternoons and on Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons, with 10 to 15 participants per session.

A Haenam-gun official said Friday that "Haenam is the ideal destination for a bicycle journey, where the special significance of being at land's end blends with stunning nature and a rich humanistic heritage."
