LG Chem said Monday it had given backpacks and school supplies to children living near its worksites ahead of the new school semester.
The initiative was part of "Donation Week," an employee-driven corporate social responsibility program the company launched in December around Christmas. The program directly connects donors with recipients and runs on the voluntary participation of employees.
This year, 113 children submitted wish lists for the new semester, requesting items such as backpacks, stationery sets, pencil cases, notebooks, sneakers and art supplies. Employees then selected and prepared gifts based on each child's story and requested items.
"LG Chem plans to continue expanding tailored social contribution activities that support the healthy growth of the next generation," a company official said.
