Four bodies believed to be missing persons were found in Jeju over three days.
According to Yonhap, a man in his 70s identified only as A was found dead at around 3:04 a.m. Sunday in waters off Sinheung-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju. The Jeju Maritime Police said A had been reported missing to the Jeju East Police Station on Saturday.
Later that morning, at around 10:46 a.m., a body believed to be that of Jang Mi-ran — who went missing in May — was found near a lodging where she had been staying long-term. A police officer had falsely closed Jang's case, halting the investigation, but her family filed a second report last month and the search resumed.
Also on Sunday, at around 9:35 a.m., another person who had been reported missing to police was found dead near a valley in Aewol-eup, Jeju.
Earlier, on Saturday, a man in his 60s was found dead in Gujwa-eup, Jeju. He had also been reported missing last month, but the same officer who improperly closed Jang's case falsely closed his as well. A search had been underway after his family filed a second report on Friday.
