Choi Ki-young, 62, a professor of aerospace engineering, has been named the 17th president of Inha University.
The Chung Seok Inha School Foundation held a board meeting Thursday and, following a review of candidates recommended by the presidential search committee, formally approved Choi as the university's next president.
His four-year term will run from Tuesday through Aug. 31, 2030.
Choi earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in aeronautical engineering from Seoul National University before completing his doctorate at Stanford University.
At Inha University, he has served as director of the internationalization office and academic vice president, gaining broad experience in university administration and education.
His background in university development strategy — spanning internationalization, strengthening educational competitiveness and expanding industry-academia cooperation — is expected to be a key asset in leading the institution.
"I feel a profound sense of responsibility having been named the 17th president of Inha University, with its long history and tradition," Choi said. "I will drive student-centered educational innovation and strengthen research capabilities and global networks to lead Inha University into a new era."
He also outlined the development of a multi-campus system and deeper ties with local communities and industry as priorities. "I will build a solid framework for cooperation with local communities and industry, and do my utmost to help Inha University grow into a world-class institution," he said.
