Support for small suppliers struggling to secure financing
Preferential interest rates to address gaps in financial access
Technology-based guarantee assessments introduced
"Strengthening supply chain competitiveness, improving financial accessibility"
Hyundai Mobis is launching a 500 billion won ($361 million) mutual-growth guarantee program in partnership with Hana Bank and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund to support its suppliers and foster shared growth.
Hyundai Mobis announced Friday that it signed a mutual-growth guarantee MOU with Hana Bank and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund at its headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, to expand financial support for its suppliers. The signing ceremony was attended by Hyundai Mobis President and CEO Lee Kyu-seok, Hana Bank President Lee Ho-seong and Korea Credit Guarantee Fund Chairman Kwon Hyung-taek, who discussed ways to strengthen cooperation on supplier financing and supply chain competitiveness.
The agreement was designed to support small and mid-sized suppliers that possess strong technology and growth potential but struggle to secure financing due to low credit ratings or insufficient collateral. It is particularly significant for extending support to suppliers that had difficulty benefiting from existing financial assistance programs, with the aim of building a more effective mutual-growth financial ecosystem.
Under the agreement, Hyundai Mobis and Hana Bank will contribute a combined 30 billion won. The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund will use those contributions to establish a loan guarantee ceiling of 500 billion won, helping suppliers access financing through the primary banking sector.
A key feature of the program is that guarantee assessments will focus on technological capability and business viability rather than financial metrics alone. Small suppliers with strong technology but limited credit ratings or collateral are expected to benefit from guarantees issued by the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, enabling them to borrow from Hana Bank at preferential annual rates of 3.9 to 4.9 percent under more stable conditions.
Hyundai Mobis expects the program to reduce the actual financial burden on suppliers while also helping them secure liquidity for expanded investment in research and development and production facilities. The company also sees the initiative as a catalyst for building a supplier ecosystem in future business areas it is pursuing, including robotics and semiconductors.
Hyundai Mobis plans to launch the mutual-growth guarantee program in full from September and intends to gradually expand a range of financial support programs for both domestic and overseas suppliers going forward.
"This mutual-growth guarantee program was created to support suppliers that have secured strong technological capabilities but have struggled to find growth opportunities due to financial constraints," Hyundai Mobis President and CEO Lee Kyu-seok said. "We will continue to deepen our cooperative relationship with suppliers and strengthen the self-sustaining capacity of the mobility industry as a whole."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Mobis recently held its innovative technology exhibition "M-Sphere 2026" to enhance smart manufacturing competitiveness and invigorate its technology ecosystem, broadening the scope of technology exchange with suppliers and sharing smart manufacturing expertise.
