'365 Recycle' campaign runs at all stores through Sept. 3
Collected cables and chargers to be recycled into metal, plastic
Hyundai Department Store is running its "365 Recycle — Finding Hidden Resources" campaign at all stores nationwide through Sept. 3.
The 365 Recycle initiative is the retail industry's only customer-participation eco-friendly campaign, collecting unwanted items from customers for recycling, upcycling and donation. Past editions have repurposed the filling from winter padded jackets into vests donated to vulnerable groups, and upcycled plastic toys into bookstands.
This round targets cables, chargers, adapters and power strips left unused or broken at home. After a sorting process, the collected items will be recycled into metal and plastic materials.
Customers may donate up to three items each, regardless of type. Each item donated earns 2,000 H Points on the Hyundai Department Store Group's integrated membership program.
Hyundai Department Store also plans to measure and share the environmental impact of the recycling effort. Working with the Korea Climate and Environment Network and e-Circulation Governance, the company will quantitatively analyze greenhouse gas reductions and resource-circulation outcomes.
"We will continue to introduce a variety of carbon neutrality initiatives that anyone can join easily and conveniently, reflecting our customers' lifestyles," said Yang Myung-sung, executive director of sales strategy at Hyundai Department Store.
