Man accidentally sends 10 times the wedding gift — and gets most of it back four days later

A post about a man who accidentally sent 10 times the intended wedding gift to an acquaintance has gone viral online.

According to a thread on social media, a man identified only as A shared the story on his account Thursday, recounting how he had mistakenly sent 10 times the amount he meant to give as a wedding gift.

"I was trying to send 200,000 won ($145) but accidentally added an extra zero and sent 2 million won," he wrote. "I noticed two days later and spent another two days going back and forth on whether to call."

Four days after the transfer, the acquaintance returned 1.8 million won of the overpayment.

"I can tell it was a mistake," the acquaintance wrote in a text message. "But I'm really grateful — 10 years ago, when your mother-in-law passed away, I could only send 50,000 won, and you've sent me 200,000 won. Thank you so much." The acquaintance added a joke: "No interest on the 1.8 million won for four days."

A closed his post simply: "I'm just grateful — it's my money, but what moved me was his heart."

The post drew wide attention, racking up 240 views and 21,000 likes as of Friday.

Commenters responded warmly, with reactions such as "That's so charming — simple and heartfelt," "These are truly wonderful people," and "They've lived their lives well." One user shared a similar experience: "I once returned 900,000 won to an employee who had sent 1 million won when my father passed away. I felt exactly the same way."
