Geumcheon-gu expands community center, adds senior rest areas in Siheung 3-dong

Geumcheon-gu in Seoul has expanded the usable space at the Bakmisarang Village Moa Center, a neighborhood management office in Siheung 3-dong, and began a pilot operation Wednesday, the district announced Monday.

The center first opened in January 2024 after the first floor of the Bakmisarang Village Hall — a four-story building — was renovated. It has since provided residents with public services closely tied to daily life, including minor home repairs, safety patrols and neighborhood upkeep. The newly expanded area covers the building's third and fourth floors, totaling about 141 square meters, and includes senior rest areas as well as office space for community managers. To better serve users, the third floor is designated for men and the fourth for women. The second floor continues to function as an exercise space.

"The Moa Center has now added comfortable spaces for residents on top of its existing lifestyle-focused services," District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "We will continue to closely examine the characteristics of the community and the diverse needs of residents, so that people can access the services they need close to home."
