Ministry of Economy and Finance opens applications for 2026 Korea Economic Education Award

The Ministry of Economy and Finance will begin accepting applications for the 2026 Korea Economic Education Award on Tuesday.

The ministry said Monday that it will open applications Tuesday in partnership with the Council of Economic Education Organizations to recognize schools, teachers, institutions and practitioners who have contributed to promoting economic education. The submission deadline is 4 p.m. on Oct. 19, and applications must be submitted by email.

Now in its ninth edition since its inaugural event in 2018, the award was established to highlight outstanding examples of economic education in the field, boost recipients' sense of pride and broaden public attention to and engagement with economic education.

Awards will be given in both organizational and individual categories, with a total of 18 prizes — including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Award, the Council of Economic Education Organizations Chairman Award, the KDI President Award and the Economic Organizations Chairman Award. Prize money of up to 3 million won ($2,180) will be given in the organizational category and up to 2 million won in the individual category. Eligible applicants include elementary, middle and high schools nationwide, as well as economic education organizations, teachers, instructors and organization staff members who have conducted economic education programs for at least two years.
