Busan Bank to share network of 2,400-plus post offices nationwide

Busan Bank announced Monday that it signed a post office counter network joint-use partnership agreement with Korea Post under the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, and Gwangju Bank on Friday.

The agreement is designed to leverage the nationwide financial infrastructure of the postal network to improve customers' access to financial services and expand convenience. Under the deal, Busan Bank customers will be able to use more than 2,400 post office counters and ATMs across the country from October to make deposits and withdrawals, check account balances and access a range of other financial services — all without paying additional fees.

Busan Bank said the agreement will allow it to provide financial services through the post office's extensive counter network even in areas where it has no branches, significantly improving customers' financial access. The bank added that the arrangement is expected to greatly expand customer touchpoints, as Busan Bank customers anywhere in the country will be able to use the services they need at a location closer to them.

The bank expects the move to particularly improve convenience for elderly customers who are less comfortable with digital banking, as well as for those who require in-person financial services.

"Through this agreement, we have laid the groundwork for Busan Bank customers to access financial services more easily and conveniently, wherever they are in the country," said Kim Seong-ju, president of Busan Bank.
