Remodeling completed January–July 2026; facility reopened Aug. 1 with a new temperature-control room and fully replaced locker and shower facilities based on user feedback
Jongno-gu has completed a full overhaul of the aging swimming pool at the Olympic Memorial Community Sports Center (91 Sungkyunkwan-ro) and reopened the facility last month with significantly improved amenities for residents.
The renovation ran for roughly six months from January and drew on a total budget of 1.4 billion won ($1.02 million). The project went beyond routine repairs, prioritizing user safety and raising the overall quality of the facility.
From the design phase onward, the district conducted a user survey to identify specific inconveniences experienced by regular visitors, and the findings were incorporated directly into the construction plan.
Key improvements include a newly built temperature-control room, along with the full replacement and repair of worn locker-room and shower fixtures.
The pool offers discounted admission to several groups: veterans, basic livelihood recipients, people with disabilities, and families with three or more children receive a 50 percent reduction, while residents aged 65 and older and single-parent families receive 30 percent off. Jongno-gu residents also receive a 10 percent discount on usage fees.

"We wanted to fundamentally address safety concerns stemming from aging infrastructure and create a public sports facility that every resident can use with peace of mind," District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong said. "We will consistently invest in and manage local public sports facilities and contribute to promoting everyday sports participation."
