Namyangju appointed comedian Kim Jong-seok and trot music girl group Lady T as promotional ambassadors on Monday.
Kim is a broadcaster who has worked across drama series, film and entertainment programs, and has long been a Namyangju resident in the Byeollae-dong neighborhood. He previously served as a city ambassador from 2018 to 2022, and this appointment marks his second time in the role, reflecting his continued affection for the city.
Lady T debuted in 2014 and has released albums including "Love Me When You Can." The group has performed regularly at local festivals and cultural events in Namyangju, consistently engaging with residents through community activities and building close ties with the city over the years.
"It is meaningful to serve as ambassador again thanks to the affection of Namyangju and its residents," Kim said. "I will act as a bridge to help citizens discover the many charms of Namyangju."
Lady T also welcomed the appointment. "We have built a precious bond with Namyangju through volunteer activities, and we are delighted to now join as ambassadors," the group said. "We will do our best to share the appeal of a city we hold especially dear."
Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyeon-deok said he was pleased to appoint both Kim, who has shown deep affection for the city through years of living there, and Lady T, who has won fans with their lively performances. "I hope the two ambassadors will connect with citizens and carry out a wide range of activities with their signature warmth and bright energy," he said.
The two ambassadors are expected to participate in local events and promotional activities to engage with residents and raise awareness of Namyangju's appeal.
