Renault Korea sales fall 34% in August; 2027 Grand Koleos facelift due this month

Renault Korea sold 4,261 vehicles globally in August, down 34 percent from a year earlier, the automaker said Tuesday. The company plans to stage a recovery this month by launching the 2027 model-year update of its midsize SUV, the Grand Koleos.

Domestic sales last month came to 2,024 units, a 47.7 percent drop from the same period last year. By model: 520 units of the Filante, an E-segment crossover; 929 units of the Grand Koleos, a D-segment SUV; and 575 units of the Arkana, a coupe-style SUV.

Hybrid models accounted for 19,630 units of cumulative domestic sales this year, representing 79 percent of total sales — up 7 percentage points from the same period last year.

The Filante is sold exclusively with a hybrid powertrain. Hybrid powertrains made up 84.3 percent of Grand Koleos sales and 10 percent of Arkana sales.

Starting this month, Renault Korea will begin selling the 2027 model-year Grand Koleos and an entry trim of the Filante as part of its recovery push.

Alongside the 2027 Grand Koleos update, the company will introduce the new White Edition Etoile. It will also begin customer deliveries of the Filante Techno trim, which combines competitive pricing with a standard suite of convenience and safety features befitting a flagship model.

Exports last month totaled 2,237 units, down 13.6 percent on-year. By model: 658 units of the Arkana, 346 units of the Grand Koleos (sold overseas as the New Koleos), and 1,232 units of the Polestar 4.

"We are facing export difficulties amid unstable international conditions, including adjustments to production and shipping schedules," the company said, adding that it expects export performance to rebound as it secures additional export volume going forward.
