IU rereleases two concert films to mark 18th debut anniversary

Singer and actor IU will bring two of her landmark solo concert films back to the big screen to mark the 18th anniversary of her debut.

According to distributor CGV Icecon, "IU Concert: The Golden Hour" and "IU Concert: The Winning" will return for limited theatrical runs on Sept. 9 and Sept. 16, respectively.

"The Golden Hour" captures IU's 2022 concert at the Olympic Main Stadium — the first time a Korean female solo artist had performed there — while "The Winning" documents the finale of her first world tour in 2024, an encore show at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Sangam that was also her 100th solo concert.

The rereleases come after IU announced she was postponing her Goyang Stadium concert this month and delaying the release of her sixth studio album due to a worsening case of patulous Eustachian tube, a condition in which the Eustachian tube remains abnormally open.

Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, said at the time that it had determined performing would place too much strain on her given the condition of her ears, and that her schedule had been adjusted with her health as the top priority. "Her daily life is not significantly affected," the agency said. "This decision was made so she can meet her fans in the best possible condition."
