The Wirye Story Box, operated by the Seongnam Cultural Foundation, will host "Wirye BusKing!" — a participatory busking series bringing together audiences and artists — every Friday and Saturday through October.
The program was created to discover talented young arts groups in the Seongnam area and support their performances, giving residents easy access to culture and the arts in their everyday lives.
This year, the run has been expanded to two months, from September through October, with a total of 12 showings offering a more robust lineup of interactive busking stages.
The series will feature a wide range of genres — including pop music, jazz, fusion gugak and performance art — with audience participation built in. Each showing will feature one or two acts, allowing each group to showcase its distinct style while giving residents a chance to connect with artists up close.
"We hope citizens will naturally encounter culture and the arts in their daily lives and experience the joy of creating performances together with artists," said Yun Jeong-guk, chief of the Seongnam Cultural Foundation.
