LetsRun Park Yeongcheon spreads Chuseok cheer ahead of opening

LetsRun Park Yeongcheon, operated by the Korea Racing Authority, held a Chuseok community outreach event Friday, visiting senior centers in Geumho-eup and Cheongtong-myeon near the racetrack to check on the health and well-being of elderly residents and deliver holiday gift packages ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

Korea Racing Authority staff visited seven senior centers near the park that day, delivering hand-prepared Chuseok gift sets and exchanging warm greetings with 390 residents.

Earlier, during a practice race preparation period in July, the authority donated 37 "Hyojabbal" rollator walkers to help elderly residents with limited mobility in nearby vulnerable communities get around safely.

Since February, the authority has also been working with Yeongcheon city government and local civic groups through a joint consultative body to identify and address real community issues under a community problem-solving initiative.

To tackle Yeongcheon's high aging rate and gaps in welfare coverage, the authority has committed designated donation funds this year to carry out six core projects.

"The true opening of LetsRun Park Yeongcheon begins not with unveiling a grand facility, but with becoming a genuine neighbor in the hearts of Yeongcheon residents," a Korea Racing Authority official said. "When LetsRun Park Yeongcheon opens its doors on Sept. 11, it will be more than a venue for horse racing — it will be a social contribution landmark that addresses Yeongcheon's challenges first and becomes a source of civic pride."
