Isolation hunting action game tasks players with defeating supernatural anomalies called 'Fictions'
Targeting Q3 2028 global launch; detailed plans to be revealed in October
Krafton has unveiled its studio 5minlab's new title "World Fiction Control Agency: WPCA" through a first official trailer, with development accelerating toward a target launch in the second half of 2028.
Krafton said Friday that 5minlab debuted the first official trailer for WPCA at State of Play, a global game showcase. WPCA is an anomaly isolation hunting action game.
The trailer offers a first look at WPCA's world and actual in-game footage, featuring combat set against a Seoul backdrop, a variety of supernatural anomalies known as "Fictions," and battles between those creatures and the player characters called "Isolators."
WPCA is set in a world where supernatural anomalies run rampant. Players take on the role of an Isolator attached to the Seoul branch of the World Fiction Control Agency, tasked with tracking down and defeating Fictions — entities that pose a real-world threat. The game follows a loop in which players craft new weapons from materials collected in battle and build up their combat strength to take on increasingly powerful Fictions.
Each Fiction has distinct characteristics and combat patterns, and players can exploit weaknesses by reading those traits alongside the surrounding environment. Krafton said the game also delivers fast-paced action through boss battles that follow encounters with regular Fictions.
Players grow stronger through repeated combat, developing their own fighting style over time. Materials earned by defeating Fictions can be used to craft more powerful weapons, and players can mix and match various skills, passive abilities and randomly rolled equipment options to build a loadout that suits them. On top of solo play, WPCA supports cooperative play for up to three players taking on Fictions together.
Park Moon-hyung, chief executive of 5minlab, said the studio was thrilled to introduce WPCA to players around the world for the first time through State of Play. "We are focused on delivering a game that blends a distinctive world where the agency's Isolators clash with the supernatural anomalies known as Fictions, an urban fantasy atmosphere set in Seoul, and brisk, dynamic action," Park said.
WPCA is in development targeting a global launch in the third quarter of 2028. The title will be available on multiple platforms including PlayStation, and details on the first test schedule and how to participate are set to be announced in October.
