Gwangjin-gu will host the "2026 Konkuk University Cheongchun Itgil Night Beer Festival" on Sept. 10 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. along the Konkuk University food street in Hwayang-dong — spanning Achasanno 31-gil to Dongil-ro 22-gil and the Cheongchun Tterak plaza.

Co-organized by the Konkuk University Merchants' Association and the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation's Gwangjin Comprehensive Support Center, the festival aims to showcase the distinctive character of the Konkuk commercial district and create a vibrant alley economy where merchants and visitors can mingle.

The Konkuk commercial district was selected in January for the Seoul Metropolitan Government's local brand commercial district development project, through which it unveiled a new district brand called "Konkuk Cheongchun Itgil."

The festival was conceived as an evening event tailored to the district's character as a university hub, capitalizing on the active nightlife of its core visitors in their 20s and 30s.

The venue will feature 20 merchant sales booths offering a variety of food and five beer booths. Thirty flea market stalls selling distinctive handmade and independent goods will also operate throughout the event.

The festival opens at 4 p.m. with a ceremony and a performance by invited singer Kwak Hee-sung. At 5 p.m., residents can take the stage themselves for "Street Noraebang in Gwangjin," a public sing-along event. At 7 p.m., professional performance crew Travel Crew will take over with a dance show, followed at 8 p.m. by a DJ party hosted by DJ Yose. Street performances and other programs will round out the evening's entertainment.

District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said the Konkuk area is Gwangjin-gu's signature commercial zone, where youth culture, entertainment and food all come together. "I hope this festival becomes a meaningful occasion for merchants and visitors to enjoy together and bring new energy to the local commercial district," he said.
