Picnic mats blanketed Yeouido Hangang Park in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on Friday, a day before the 2026 Seoul International Fireworks Festival, as visitors rushed to stake out prime viewing spots. To curb the private occupation of public space, the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Han River Headquarters began collecting unattended mats starting at 9:30 a.m. that day. Confiscated items are being held at the Yeouido Information Center.
