Clear skies and cool air to greet first weekend of September

Most of the country will see clear skies and cool temperatures on Saturday, the first weekend of September.

Morning lows will dip below 20 C across central regions, including Seoul (19 C), Chuncheon (17 C), Gangneung (18 C) and Cheongju (19 C). Afternoon highs will also stay below 30 C in most areas, with the exception of parts of the Jeolla region such as Gwangju (32 C) and Jeonju (30 C).

Skies will be mostly clear nationwide, though light drizzle is possible in the afternoon in mountainous areas of Gangwon Province and along the northern East Sea coast of North Gyeongsang Province. Expected rainfall totals are 5–10 millimeters for the mountain areas of Gangwon Province and the northeastern highlands of North Gyeongsang Province, and 5–40 millimeters for the highland and mid-mountain areas of Jeju Island.

Wave heights are forecast at 1.0–3.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5–1.5 meters in the Yellow Sea and 0.5–3.5 meters in the South Sea. In offshore waters — roughly within 200 kilometers of the coastline — waves are expected to reach 1.0–4.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5–4.0 meters in the Yellow Sea and 1.5–5.5 meters in the South Sea.
