Chu Ka-eun, Hong Su-hyeon win silver in mixed air pistol at Asian Games

Chu Ka-eun and Hong Su-hyeon won silver in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday.

The pair posted a combined score of 478.0 points across 48 shots in the final at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Range, finishing second. India took gold with 484.6 points, breaking the previous Asian record of 481.3 points by 3.3 points.

Iran claimed bronze with 415.8 points, while Indonesia finished fourth with 349.4 points.

South Korea has now medaled in the event at three consecutive Asian Games — following the silver won by Lee Dae-myeong and Kim Min-jeong at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and the bronze by Lee Won-ho and Kim Bo-mi at the 2022 Hangzhou Games. It is the country's first silver in the event since 2018.

Chu, long regarded as a rising talent, competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but missed out on her first Asian Games appearance after failing to qualify for the Hangzhou squad.

She fought back to earn a spot at this year's Games and, in her Asian Games debut, added a mixed team silver to the individual gold and team silver she had already won in the women's 10-meter air pistol events.

Hong, who narrowly missed the podium by finishing fourth in the men's 10-meter air pistol individual event on Thursday, claimed his first Asian Games medal in the mixed team competition.
