Lotte Mart, Lotte Super launch limited-edition potato chip flavor in collaboration with Gangwon Province

Lotte Mart and Lotte Super announced Thursday the limited-edition launch of "Haitai Saengsaeng Potato Chip — Gamjajeon Flavor," developed in collaboration with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and Haitai Confectionery.

The product is a "loconomy" (local + economy) item designed to expand sales channels for Gangwon agricultural products and promote the region. It uses approximately 70 tons of Seolbong potatoes sourced from farms in Gangwon Province as its main ingredient. The packaging features Gangwon Province's official characters, "Gangwoni" and "Teukbyeoli."

The product will be sold in limited quantities of about 80,000 bags across 106 Lotte Mart locations and 350 Lotte Super stores.

This marks the second collaboration with Gangwon Province, following one last year. In October last year, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super released "Haitai Saengsaeng Potato Chip — Gangwon Corn Flavor," which combined freshly harvested Gangwon potatoes with a glutinous corn seasoning and featured regional characters on its packaging.

To celebrate the launch, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super will offer discounts on the new product as well as major Haitai potato snacks — including "Calbee Potato Chips" and "Honey Butter Chip" — through Oct. 28.

"We are consistently carrying forward our 'regional co-prosperity project' to showcase the appeal of local communities through products that draw on region-specific resources such as agricultural produce and characters, and to provide customers with differentiated food options through our nationwide distribution network," said Lee Hwa-seok, a merchandise director on Lotte Mart and Lotte Super's snack foods team.
