Gyeongbuk Science College held a violence prevention and Korean law education session for international students, along with a Korean-language speaking and writing contest to mark Hangul Day, at the college's multimedia room on Monday.
The session was led by Lee Hae-jin, a sergeant at the Chilgok Police Station.
Lee explained the penalties for gambling and operating illegal gambling establishments, as well as the dangers of possessing, distributing and using illegal drugs.
The session also covered safe riding rules for electric scooters and bicycles, personal information protection to prevent voice phishing, and how to handle and report suspicious calls.
Participants also received guidance on how to stay calm, report crimes and convey details of an incident if they become victims.
Following the education session, 14 students from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam took part in the Korean-language speaking and writing contest, competing to demonstrate their Korean proficiency.
