US unit signs 120 billion won materials supply deal with parent
Company vows to pursue further opportunities as American grid market grows
Taihan Cable & Solution announced Thursday that its US subsidiary, T.E.USA, has secured a turnkey contract for a high-voltage power grid project in the United States.
Under the arrangement, the US subsidiary will oversee the entire project — including local engineering and construction — while the parent company handles the production and supply of key materials such as high-voltage cables and accessories.
As part of the deal, Taihan Cable & Solution and T.E.USA signed a materials supply contract worth about 120 billion won ($89.5 million).
The total contract value of the turnkey project, which covers construction and engineering, as well as the identity of the client, will not be disclosed under a confidentiality agreement signed with the project owner.
The company has been building on its US momentum: in January, it secured another high-voltage turnkey project in the country worth about 100 billion won.
Taihan Cable & Solution has demonstrated its technological competitiveness in the US market by winning every 500-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage underground grid project put out to tender there, while also securing a supply contract for 320kV HVDC cables.
"As large-scale turnkey projects are becoming increasingly important in the US power grid market, we will continue to expand our project pipeline and actively respond to the diverse needs of our customers," a company official said.
