Hospitals to collaborate on closing gaps in care
Ulsan City held a meeting with local medical institutions Friday at the Welfare and Health Bureau director's office in the city hall annex, agreeing to strengthen cooperation among hospitals on the rapid transfer and referral of critically ill and emergency patients, as well as coordination of follow-up care.
The meeting was attended by Welfare and Health Bureau Director Lee Jeong-mi along with representatives from five major medical institutions: Ulsan University Hospital, Donggang Hospital, Ulsan Hospital, Jungang Hospital and Ulsan City Hospital.
The city shared with the participating hospitals a draft plan for a locally led project to close gaps in medical care, which it intends to pursue next year, aimed at strengthening essential medical functions currently lacking in the region.
Key areas of the plan include strengthening core essential medical functions covering high-risk mothers and newborns, pediatric emergencies and trauma; improving systems for emergency patient transfer and follow-up care coordination; supporting essential medical personnel; and establishing an integrated operations and performance management framework.
"Close cooperation and a clear division of roles among medical institutions are essential for residents to receive the medical services they need in a timely manner within the region," Lee said.
