Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant participated Monday in the "2026 Hoguk Training" exercise led by the Marine Corps' 1st Division, testing its ability to respond to infiltration and terrorist threats and reviewing the integrated defense posture at the nationally critical facility in Gyeongju.
The drill involved Wolsong's information security unit, civil police, special security force and fire department personnel, alongside Marine Corps troops and relevant agencies. Participants ran through scenarios involving an unidentified drone infiltrating the plant and compound emergencies including explosions and fires, comprehensively reviewing initial response procedures, on-site management and personnel protection protocols.
"We will continue to conduct combat-oriented joint counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism drills so that we can respond swiftly and without gaps to any threat, establishing a solid integrated defense posture," Plant Director Kwon Won-taek said.
