Wall Street closes mixed on US midterm election day as tech rebound lifts NASDAQ 0.8%

US stocks closed mixed Tuesday (local time) as major technology shares rebounded amid investor caution over midterm election results.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 197.26 points, or 0.38 percent, to 51,786.72 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The S&P 500 rose 27.52 points, or 0.36 percent, to 7,568.92. The tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite gained 207.65 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 25,372.01.
