The Gimcheon City Council in North Gyeongsang Province held a training session Tuesday on preventing four categories of violence and improving disability awareness, aimed at strengthening human rights sensitivity and fostering a healthier organizational culture among council members and civil servants.
The session was designed to sharpen gender sensitivity among public officials and to address prejudice and discrimination against people with disabilities.
Led by outside specialists, the training covered the main types and real-world cases of four categories of violence — sexual harassment, sexual assault, prostitution and domestic violence — along with prevention strategies and response measures.
Participants also received instruction on building a proper understanding of people with disabilities, protecting their rights, preventing discrimination, and recognizing the importance of consideration and communication.
"I hope this training helps create a public service culture built on mutual respect and consideration," Gimcheon City Council Speaker Oh Se-gil said. "We will continue to build a healthy and trusted council through ongoing prevention education and awareness-raising efforts."
