The district's inaugural tax seminar for residents on Nov. 16 will cover inheritance and gift tax law and practical ways to reduce tax burdens; registration opens to 200 residents on a first-come, first-served basis through Saturday
Seoul's Seongdong-gu will hold its "2026 Seongdong-gu Tax Seminar" on Nov. 16 to provide residents with practical tax knowledge and legal strategies for reducing their tax burden in everyday life.
The seminar — the district's first of its kind for residents — will focus on inheritance and gift taxes, two areas of particular interest among the tax issues people commonly encounter. Organized in cooperation with the National Tax Service's taxpayer tax-law education program, the event aims to break down complex tax rules into accessible explanations and guide attendees through lawful ways to minimize their tax obligations.
Tax accountant Kim Sun-hwa, an adjunct lecturer for the National Tax Service's taxpayer tax-law education program, will lead the session. The lecture will cover the fundamentals of inheritance and gift taxes as well as key tax-saving strategies applicable to real-life situations.
The seminar will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Rainbow Theater inside the Seoul Metropolitan Seongdong Youth Center, with a capacity of 200 Seongdong-gu residents.
Registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis through Saturday, with 100 spots available online and 100 by phone. Residents wishing to attend may apply through the Seongdong-gu district office website or by telephone; further details are available from the district office's Tax Division 1.
"Inheritance and gift taxes are closely tied to daily life, but the complexity of the tax code can make them feel daunting," Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yoo Bo-hwa said. "I hope this seminar gives residents a chance to get answers to their tax questions, and we will continue working to provide useful tax information that makes a real difference in people's lives."
