Seo-gu in Gwangju will open a public dog park at Pungam Lifestyle Sports Park starting June 30.
The facility will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is restricted to registered dogs only. The park features separate areas for large dogs and small-to-medium dogs, and is equipped with waste collection bins, water fountains and shade structures.
To mark the opening of Gwangju's first public dog park, Seo-gu will hold an inaugural event on June 27.
Lee Ung-jong, a professor in the companion animal studies department at Dongshin University, will host a talk concert on the theme of "a culture of happy coexistence between people and their pets."
