Iran says no direct talks with US, only consultations with mediators

Iran said it has concluded working-level consultations in Doha, Qatar, on implementing a ceasefire memorandum of understanding, and agreed to establish a communication channel to receive and record violations of the agreement.
Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported Tuesday that Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi made the announcement after wrapping up the working-level negotiations in Doha.
"The Doha talks on implementing the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran for an end to the war have concluded," Gharibabadi said. "The participating countries agreed to establish a communication channel by Thursday to report and document violations of the MOU."
He said the sessions were conducted solely through consultations with mediating countries, including Qatar and Pakistan, and that there were no direct meetings with the US side.
"On Thursday morning, I met with the Qatari prime minister and foreign minister, followed by two joint sessions with delegations from mediating countries including Qatar and Pakistan," Gharibabadi said. "There were no separate meetings with the US delegation."
He added that he also held separate talks with officials from the Qatar Central Bank to discuss financial matters.
"The talks focused particularly on the situation in Lebanon and ways to unfreeze Iranian assets," he said.
