Ulsan's son-in-law to promote the county's charms with his signature warmth
Ulju-gun in Ulsan has appointed comedian Shim Hyun-seop as its official ambassador, holding a ceremony Thursday at Alps Hall in the county office. With Shim's appointment, the county now has three ambassadors — including national soccer team player Seol Young-woo and actor Oh Man-seok — who will promote Ulju-gun's key policies, signature festivals and tourist attractions.
Shim is a 30-year comedy veteran who helped define the golden era of KBS's "Gag Concert" in the late 1990s and early 2000s, winning nationwide affection with catchphrases including "Bambaya~." He recently drew attention on the entertainment program "Joseon's Romantics" by revealing a romance with a woman from Ulsan. After their marriage, Shim began his newlywed life in Ulsan and has since settled in Ulju-gun.
"I've traveled all across the country, and nowhere is as abundant and warmly welcoming as Ulju-gun," Shim said. "I'll spread the charms of Ulju to every corner of the nation with a smile."
