BPA, BPT sign MOU to strengthen community contributions

Busan Port Authority (BPA) signed an MOU with Sinseondae Gaman Terminal Co. (BPT) on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation on community contributions, BPA announced Wednesday. At the signing ceremony, BPT presented BPA with a donation of 40 million won ($26,800).

The funds are to be distributed to two BPA Hope Storehouses — the eighth location at Gaman General Social Welfare Center and the ninth at Yongho General Social Welfare Center. BPT also donated 10 million won last year to support the BPA Hope Storehouse program.

The BPA Hope Storehouse is the authority's flagship corporate social responsibility project, operating as a community sharing platform in partnership with 16 welfare institutions and local governments near ports in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province. The donation will be used through the platform to provide food and daily necessities to vulnerable residents, and is expected to help address gaps in the welfare safety net across the region.

"We will continue to actively participate in social contribution activities alongside Busan Port Authority and fulfill our corporate social responsibility," BPT CEO Lee Jeong-haeng said.
