Registration opens for 2027 college entrance exam in Busan

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced Monday that registration for the 2027 College Scholastic Ability Test, scheduled for Nov. 19, is open through Sept. 4 at high schools and five district education offices across the city.

Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, excluding the lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. and all Saturdays and public holidays. Test-takers must submit their applications within the registration period, as no changes to application submissions, test subjects, or subject selections will be accepted after the deadline.

Before visiting a registration site, applicants may complete their application form, upload a photo, and pay the registration fee through the online pre-entry system at www.mycsat.re.kr. However, even after completing the online pre-entry, applicants must visit a registration site in person to undergo identity verification — a measure to prevent proxy test-taking — and receive a registration confirmation slip before the process is considered complete.

Applications must be submitted by the test-taker in person. Exceptions allowing proxy submission are made for people with disabilities, those serving prison sentences or in pretrial detention, active military personnel, hospitalized patients, and those residing abroad as of the registration date — excluding temporary travelers — provided the relevant supporting documents are submitted.

Students currently enrolled in or graduated from a Busan high school should register at their school. Graduates of high schools in other cities or provinces who have a registered address in Busan, as well as those who passed the high school equivalency exam or hold other recognized qualifications, may register at the district education office with jurisdiction over their address.

Test-takers eligible for exam accommodations — including those with severe or mild visual impairments, motor disabilities such as brain lesions, or severe or mild hearing impairments — should apply through their high school to the Busan Southern District Office of Education. Accommodations such as extended testing time are available depending on the type and severity of the disability.

All applicants must bring two passport-sized photos (3.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm tall) taken within the past six months, the applicable registration fee — which varies by the number of test subjects chosen and cannot be paid in cash — and a government-issued ID bearing a photo and all 13 digits of the resident registration number.

Those eligible for exam accommodations, high school equivalency exam passers, and others with recognized qualifications must also submit the relevant supporting documents. For further details, applicants may contact their high school, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, or the district education office with jurisdiction over their address.

Registration fees vary by the number of subjects selected: 37,000 won ($27) for four subjects or fewer, 42,000 won for five subjects, and 47,000 won for six subjects. After registering, test-takers must pick up their admission tickets at their registration site at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18, then attend a mandatory orientation at 2 p.m. that same day at the exam venue listed on their ticket.

This year's college entrance exam will be held Nov. 19, with score reports to be distributed Dec. 11.
