Shin Hyun-song also to attend G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting
Bank of Korea Governor Shin Hyun-song departed Thursday for the United States to attend the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium and other international meetings.
Starting Friday, Shin will take part in the symposium, held under the theme "Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy," where he is expected to exchange views with central bank governors and academics from major economies.
The Jackson Hole symposium is an annual global conference on economic and monetary policy hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
Shin will then travel to Asheville, North Carolina, for the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, which opens Monday. He is set to discuss major global economic issues with finance ministers, central bank governors and officials from international financial institutions.
From Sept. 5, Shin will attend the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Governors Meeting in Basel, Switzerland.
There, he will join the Global Economy Meeting and the Meeting of Governors to discuss recent developments in the world economy and financial markets with fellow central bank governors. In his capacity as a BIS board member, he will also participate in the BIS Board of Directors and the Economic Consultative Council.
Meanwhile, Monetary Policy Board member Jang Yong-sung will attend the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium and present at a Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas seminar from Thursday through Wednesday.
