Yeongdeok-gun to build 150-room tourist hotel in Byeonggok-myeon

Yeongdeok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province signed an investment agreement with Mersent Resort on Thursday to advance the "Yeongdeok Mersent Tourist Hotel Development Project."

Mersent Resort plans to invest 240 billion won ($174 million) to build a tourist hotel in the Byeonggok-ri area of Byeonggok-myeon, featuring six below-ground floors, 10 above-ground floors and 150 guest rooms.

The hotel will include a media tower, a seawater winery, a convention center with 400 seats and a sky lounge, among other amenities.

The resort company plans to complete administrative procedures by the end of this year before breaking ground in 2027.

"This Mersent tourist hotel development project will serve as an important milestone in realizing the future vision of Yeongdeok as a tourism destination," Yeongdeok County Chief Jo Ju-hong said.
