Yeosu to Tongyeong to Busan: South Coast Cup yacht race set for September

About 280 sailors from home and abroad to compete

The 2026 South Coast Cup International Yacht Race, co-hosted by three municipalities — Busan, South Gyeongsang Province and South Jeolla Province — will be held in Yeosu, the site of the 2026 Yeosu Island Expo.

According to Yeosu city, the race will run Sept. 3–6, tracing a course across the waters linking Yeosu, Tongyeong and Busan along the southern coast. The event, jointly organized by the three regional governments, will draw about 280 sailors and 31 yachts.

In Yeosu, the Soho-dong Yacht Marina will host windsurfing, kayaking and dinghy sailing experiences Sept. 4–5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yeosu Mayor Seo Yeong-hak said the race would help promote the scenic marine tourism resources of the southern coast and expand public participation in water leisure sports.
