Special flights scheduled across three holiday periods from Sept. 24 to Oct. 11
20 round-trip flights, about 3,160 seats on Gimpo-Jeju route
Mileage seat supply expansion follows summer peak season
Korean Air will add dedicated mileage seats on the Gimpo-Jeju route during the fall holiday stretch running from Chuseok through National Foundation Day and Hangul Day. The airline will operate a total of 20 special mileage flights — about 3,160 seats — across the three holiday periods to meet travel demand for Jeju.
Korean Air announced Tuesday it will run the special mileage flights on the Gimpo-Jeju route from Sept. 24 through Oct. 11.
The flights will cover the Chuseok holiday period from Sept. 24 to Sept. 27, the National Foundation Day holiday from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5, and the Hangul Day holiday from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11. Boeing 737-8 aircraft will be deployed on the special services.
The Gimpo-Jeju route is one of the most popular domestic routes for Korean Air SkyPass members redeeming bonus tickets. During holidays particularly, demand for Jeju-bound flights surges, making mileage seats harder to secure — prompting the airline to add dedicated flights to broaden customers' options.
Departure times vary by day of the week. Flights from Gimpo depart at 10:25 a.m. on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays, and at 5:25 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. Return flights from Jeju depart at 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays, and at 7:20 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.
Detailed schedules and reservations are available on the Korean Air website and mobile app.
Korean Air earlier operated special mileage flights to Jeju during the summer peak season, adding 20 extra flights on the Gimpo-Jeju route from July 27 to Aug. 6, when it deployed Airbus A220-300 aircraft with 140 seats. The fall holiday expansion continues that effort to increase mileage seat supply.
"With travel demand for Jeju expected to rise during the holiday period spanning Chuseok, National Foundation Day and Hangul Day, we have scheduled special flights on the Gimpo-Jeju route so customers can use their mileage more conveniently," a Korean Air official said. "We will continue to expand bonus ticket opportunities so customers can make use of their mileage in a variety of ways."
