Han Moon-sun, chairman of Yeosu industrial complex-based Boim Group, has donated 200 million won ($146,000) to support the successful staging of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.
According to the expo's organizing committee, Boim Group signed a pledge agreement to contribute 100 million won in direct donations and an additional 100 million won to create a "Boim Day" event offering free admission to Yeosu residents.
Boim Group is a comprehensive energy solutions company that grew out of Yeosu, with operations spanning power fuel supply, port logistics and district energy, and is expanding into future eco-friendly energy sectors.
"As a company that grew up in Yeosu, we are delighted to contribute to the expo's success and to share its significance with residents through Boim Day," Han said.
Kim Jong-gi, secretary-general of the organizing committee, welcomed the pledge, saying the interest and participation of local businesses, institutions and citizens is a great source of strength for the expo.
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo runs from Saturday through Nov. 4, spanning two months across the Jinmo district on Dolsan Island, the Yeosu World Expo site, and the islands of Gaedo and Geumodo.
