Inha University Hospital honored for suicide prevention efforts

Inha University Hospital has received a citation from the Incheon mayor in recognition of its contributions to suicide prevention and the promotion of a life-respecting culture.

The hospital was named a meritorious institution and presented with the award at the 2026 Incheon Suicide Prevention Day ceremony, held Tuesday at Holiday Inn Incheon Songdo.

The hospital has operated a life-care crisis response center since 2017, establishing a round-the-clock crisis response system for individuals at high risk of suicide.

The center provides integrated support for suicide attempt survivors and high-risk patients who visit the emergency room, offering crisis assessments, case management, referrals to inpatient and outpatient treatment, and follow-up care.

Over the past three years, the hospital secured an average of about 586 case management service agreements per year, actively managing 410 patients and facilitating 152 community referrals.

The hospital also runs the Yeongjong-gu Mental Health Welfare Center and organizes life-respect concerts, working to strengthen community mental health and spread a culture of respect for life.
