Chilgok-gun submits W878b supplementary budget to county assembly

Chilgok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has submitted a first supplementary budget of 878 billion won ($641 million) for 2026 to the county assembly, the county announced Wednesday.

The figure represents an increase of 53 billion won, or 6.4 percent, over the original budget.

The supplementary budget includes 16.2 billion won for a victim support fund for high fuel prices and 5 billion won in fuel subsidies for the transportation industry, along with funding for other key projects.

Among the major allocations, 1.1 billion won was set aside to expand a children's science experience center — part of a remodeling project to convert the second and basement floors of the Honeybee Kingdom theme park into interactive education and activity spaces for children and residents — while 460 million won was earmarked for the construction of an early childhood climate and environment education center.

The budget also includes about 800 million won for a demand-tailored modular low-speed vehicle (LSV) regulation-free zone, 4 billion won for the construction of a wide-area road between Joya and Dongmyeong, 1.5 billion won to open a connecting road between Jungni and Gupyeong, and 3.65 billion won to widen and pave the road between Opyeong and Deoksan.

The supplementary budget will be finalized on Sept. 15 after review by the county assembly.

"We concentrated available resources on reviving the local economy, advancing key pending projects and fulfilling campaign pledges," Chilgok-gun County Chief Kim Jae-wook said. "We will do our utmost so that residents can feel the change in their daily lives."
