Honam University to admit 1,575 students in early admissions for 2027 academic year

Honam University is seeking students with AI and semiconductor expertise to help drive the future of the Gwangju and South Jeolla Province region.

Honam University will introduce a new cross-disciplinary curriculum called the HOPE multi-track program starting with its 2027 freshman class, as the school moves to align its offerings with the growing AI and semiconductor industries. The university will accept 1,575 students — representing 99.4 percent of its total enrollment quota — through early admissions running from Sept. 7 through Sept. 11.

To ease the burden on applicants and expand their options, the university will allow multiple applications across different admissions tracks and provide scholarships to all admitted students.

The HOPE (Honam Open Path Education) multi-track curriculum, set to take effect with the 2027 entering class, is designed to develop practice-ready graduates with the creative and interdisciplinary skills demanded by the AI and semiconductor era.

The curriculum overhaul aims to strengthen students' career options and employability in a rapidly shifting AI landscape and evolving semiconductor industry, with a focus on producing graduates who can adapt to the convergent, hands-on demands of the workplace.

This year's early admissions cycle expands the number of overlapping applications across tracks to a maximum of three, giving applicants a wider range of choices.

Application fees will be waived for students applying to the open-major program and for those applying in the second or third rounds, and all admitted students will receive scholarships.

Admissions screening will be conducted through two tracks: interview-based and academic record-based.

The College Scholastic Ability Test minimum score requirement applies only to the nursing and physical therapy departments. Applicants must achieve an average grade of 5 or better across their two strongest subjects among Korean, English, mathematics and one elective exam for nursing, and a grade of 6 or better for physical therapy.
