Busan Transportation Corp. shifts to acting president system

Busan Transportation Corp. announced Monday that Park Myeong-do, head of the management support division, has been serving as acting president since Saturday. His predecessor, Lee Byeong-jin, completed his three-year term and stepped down Friday. The corporation said it plans to maintain stable operations until a new president takes office.

In line with the transition, the corporation will hold its management strategy meetings weekly — up from twice a month — to monitor the progress of key tasks. It will also streamline its reporting structure around the acting president to enable faster decision-making, keep emergency response systems on constant standby, and focus on urban rail safety and other pressing management issues.

That morning, Acting President Park chaired an emergency management strategy meeting in the eighth-floor conference room at the corporation's headquarters. The session briefed all department heads on how the acting-president system would operate and reviewed management issues including safety, transportation, labor and fiscal matters, as well as the status of major projects.

"I will carefully attend to the corporation's immediate challenges until a new president takes office, so that no management vacuum arises," Park said. "All executives and employees will faithfully carry out their respective roles, and we will do our utmost in operating the urban railway and managing safety so that citizens can use the Busan urban railway with peace of mind."
